About Me
My name is Jon, im from Long Island and ive been taking photos of the subway for 3 years now. Ive been riding the Long Island Railroad since I was a little kid, going to the city with my family for various things every year. I have many fond memories of watching the towns go by out the window, and then the last segment in Sunnyside yard as the train descends into the tunnel towards Penn Station. When I was younger I used to go to Montreal frequently, and enjoyed riding the Metro there. My first time on the NYC Subway was in 2005, on a family trip to the city. I was hooked from then. Ive been on plenty of trips to the city since then thanks to college classes meeting in the city in 2006-07.
I started photographing the subway more extensively in 2009 when I got a better digital camera. When I got my first dSLR camera, my photographic skills impoved even further. The photos on this site are from 2010 and onward however. I created this website in 2010, to provide an organized place to show my photos of the NYC Subway system as well as the Long Island Railroad and Metro North. In 2012, I expanded beyond the New York area and photographed the metro systems in Boston and San Francisco.
